Brian Hinman

About

Bio

BRIAN HINMAN is an American vocalist, arranger, creative producer, and organizational leader whose work bridges meticulous planning with deep artistic expression. For 16 years, he sang with Chanticleer, the GRAMMY-winning vocal ensemble, touring the world and performing an expansive repertoire spanning Renaissance polyphony to jazz and pop. Now, he performs with The Leonids, a Vancouver-based ensemble known for its innovative approach to vocal music. His versatile voice can also be heard on major AAA video games such as Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary and Hideo Kojima’s highly anticipated Death Stranding 2.

Brian’s artistry is rooted in a lifelong passion for music and performance, beginning with choral singing and theater in his youth and expanding through dedicated jazz studies that enriched his stylistic range. Beyond singing, he is an experienced audio and video producer, bringing a cinematic and narrative approach to creative projects.

During his tenure with Chanticleer, Brian performed as both Tenor and Road Manager, giving up to 120 concerts each year. He contributed to eight studio and twelve live recordings, often recording, editing, and mixing projects for Chanticleer Records alongside his performance work. As co-producer of Someone New with Leslie Ann Jones and Jace Wittig, Brian realized a long-held dream of creating an album shaped by his early musical influences. He has also written several pop, jazz, and gospel arrangements for the ensemble, expanding its repertoire with his distinctive artistic voice.

In addition to his artistic work, Brian is Chanticleer’s Director of Operations and Touring, where he combines artistic insight with a principled, empathetic approach to leadership. He is deeply committed to building efficient and mindful systems that support organizational excellence while nurturing the well-being, creativity, and agency of those around him. His work is guided by a belief that art is a gateway to empathy, and that storytelling—through music, film, or systems design—has the power to connect people to each other’s humanity.

Brian’s artistic life is also informed by his fascination with learning, technology, and efficiency. An autodidact at heart, he is constantly exploring new ideas and skills, from philosophy and neuroscience to the technical craft of filmmaking. Whether creating evocative performances, building transformative systems, or exploring the quiet complexities of human experience, Brian strives to bring honesty, emotional connection, and integrity to everything he does. His life and work remain a testament to the belief that art, in all its forms, is an invitation to see the world more deeply and to understand each other more fully.

New Chanticleer Video!!

Chanticleer has a new music video!

Anyone who knows me, knows I love records and cds and recorded music of all varieties. During our shelter-in-place reality here in San Francisco, I have been spending lots of quality time practicing my audio production skills. It's been incredibly satisfying to work on an assortment of projects that I would never have had the opportunity to experience if it weren't for so many people trying to do things together remotely.

The one project that has occupied the most time…
